This installation is a playful audiovisual creature — tactile, a bit insect-like, and made entirely for our own amusement before it went off to exhibitions and commercial shows.

The mechanics are charmingly simple. Inside a mirrored cube sits a tiny touchscreen sprinkled with bright, primitive buttons. Tap any of them and you trigger a light mode: eight little “limbs” start blinking, pulsing, or flickering in their own rhythm. At the same time a short audio sample jumps into a loop, playing on repeat until you poke the screen again.

So you stand there tapping away, reshuffling the beats and flashes, essentially remixing this eight-legged oddball into whatever mood you want. It behaves like a tiny pet that responds to every curious finger.

We named it Yosh (Hedgehog) — because it vaguely resembles an anti-tank hedgehog, except this one is harmless, white, toy-sized, and designed to fend off nothing more dangerous than the moldy gloom of the post-Soviet landscape.
