When we were young, naive, unskilled, and already bold enough to be completely out of our minds, we stuck our intrusive tentacles into every event we could find.

And once — miraculously — someone actually answered our call.

Moscow Design Week invited us and offered a small mission: do something funny with the Sretenka sculpture — the metal street inscription on Sretenka, right in the center of the city where the festival took place.

We proposed a design that, by today’s standards, looks post-modernist, silly, naive, and almost primitively sweet.

But back then it felt daring enough.

We executed the whole thing in a single day: we painted the rusty metal letters with our patterns, covered parts of the sculpture with toys, and hung a surveillance camera above it to “monitor vandals” — because at that moment in Moscow’s history, public art was being destroyed quickly and enthusiastically.

The punchline? The camera was fake. A little toy eye pretending to watch over a city that never really cared.
